Kerri Walker is a trusted expert, national speaker, educator, and trainer on trauma, trauma-informed care, intimate partner violence, and traumatic brain injury (IPV/TBI).
After experiencing a lifetime of trauma — and as a survivor of an abusive relationship that caused traumatic brain injury — Kerri began working with survivors more than 15 years ago, first as an advocate in Ohio and Phoenix, Arizona. At a large Phoenix shelter, her work grew from advocacy to helping develop and run the shelter’s Traumatic Brain Injury Collaborative program.
Kerri is a Certified Trauma and Resiliency Life Coach and a subject matter expert on the CDC’s national training “Hidden Harms: Supporting Survivors of IPV with Brain Injuries.” She serves on the Advisory Council of the Illinois Coalition to Address Intimate Partner Violence-Induced Brain Injury and is a member of the Trauma Informed Care Network Speaker’s Bureau.
Recent speaking includes opening the Pathways Program symposium in Chicago, “Voices United: Brain Injury in Intimate Partner Violence — an Undiagnosed Threat.” She is also the author of the Annie Bear children’s book series, bringing trauma-informed comfort to the youngest audiences of all.
